Prime Minister Narendra Modi described senior journalist Law Kumar Mishra, who is leading a retired life at Patna in Bihar, as his best friend.

Modi recalled his association and memories when he met Law Kumar’s son Abhinandan Mishra, who is also a renowned journalist in New Delhi. The Prime Minister fondly remembered and expressed his desire to meet him.

Law Kumar Mishra, who is living in Patna after fifty years of active journalism, was a journalist in English daily The Times of India in Ahmedabad and Rajkot in Gujarat forty years ago.

Narendra Modi was the senior functionary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at that time. Mishra often used to meet Modi.

Mishra, who started his journalistic career at Patna with the Searchlight, joined the Times of India at Ahmedabad in 1980. He used to cover civic issues and BJP, then in the opposition. Modi was a full time pracharak of RSS and stayed at Shahpura office of the organisation.

Mishra had met Modi in his professional duties. Later, he met Modi during his days in Kashmir, when he was BJP general secretary. Further, they met at Deendayal Parisar at Bhopal and Ekatam Parisar at Raipur as he was General Secretary in-charge.

They met at Alawalpur village in Patna where the PM designate visited the House of one of the victims of Gandhi Maidan blasts.
