Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Chhattisgarh capital Raipur on a day visit on Friday to inaugurate and lay foundation stones of 10 projects worth around Rs 7,600 crore.
The visit is seen as significant as BJP is gearing up to take on Congress to retain power as the state goes to the assembly polls later in the year. The Prime Minister is scheduled to address a public meeting in which over 200,000 people are likely to be present, according to the BJP leaders.
The meeting will be held at the Science College ground at 10.45 am. The event is also seen as a kickstart of BJP’s campaign in Chhattisgarh.
According to the programme schedule released, the Prime Minister will dedicate to the nation four-laning of the 33-km-long Raipur-Kodebod section of the National Highway 30, the 53-km-long four-lane Bilaspur-Pathrapali stretch of NH-130, and lay foundation stone for construction of three sections (Jhanki- Sargi (43 km), Sargi –Basanwahi (57 km) and Basanwahi-Marangpuri (25 km)) as a part of the six-lane Raipur-Visakhapatnam economic corridor NH-130 CD.
He will also dedicate to the nation the doubling of the 103-km-long Raipur-Khariar Road Rail Line that has been built with an estimated cost of Rs 750 crore, a 17-km-long new railway line connecting Keoti-Antagarh, and a bottling plant of the Indian Oil Corporation with a capacity of 60,000 metric tonne per annum in Korba constructed at a cost of over Rs 130 crore.
Besides, Modi will also start the distribution of 7.5 million cards to beneficiaries of the Ayushman Bharat scheme and flag off a new train from Antagarh (Kanker district) to Raipur.
The senior BJP leaders including Party’s State in-charge Om Mathur, BJP State President Arun Sao, former Chief Minister Raman Singh and others visited the venue and reviewed the preparation for the Prime Minister’s programme.
“The visit of Prime Minister will energise the party workers and rejuvenate the supporters ahead of state assembly elections,” Sao said.
