Raipur, July 7
In an overt reference to Congress party’s symbol, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday lashed out at the Chhattisgarh’s ruling party and said hand had created a wall in the development of the state.
“The BJP played a big role in the formation of Chhattisgarh that will complete 25 years in the next two years,” Modi said while addressing BJP’s Mahasankalb rally in the Chhattisgarh capital. The next 25 years is crucial for the development of Chhattisgarh, he said.
But hand had created a wall that obstructed the development of the state, Modi said while calling upon the people to replace the Congress government in Chhattisgarh. He said the party looted the state and every department is under the scanner over the corruption.
Asserting that the Congress party cheated the people of Chhattisgarh, the Prime Minister said the liquor scam in the state ran into crores of rupees. “I have information that the money went to Congress party,” Modi said, adding that the sharing of commission money was one of the factors that terminated the power sharing agreement between two Congress leaders for the Chief Ministership.
The Prime Minister said Congress could not breathe without corruption. “Liquor scam is not the only one; coal mafia, sand mafia, land mafia and what not have come to the fore,” he added. Even the drinking water mission was not spared, Modi said.
He added that Congress was conspiring to stall the development and welfare schemes, and the Prime Minister said he would not retreat from taking Chhattisgarh on the road marked for growth. The Prime Minister said many schemes of the centre for the poor people were not implemented that include housing for the poor.
Calling upon the people to oust the Congress government in the ensuing assembly elections in Chhattisgarh, Modi said the BJP would expedite the project of housing for the poor after coming to power in Chhattisgarh. The BJP government at the centre had given sufficient funds to the Chhattisgarh government for constructing village roads, paddy procurement and infrastructure development.
Modi cautioned people not to get away with the promises made by the Congress. He said in the election manifesto, the government could not prohibit liquor, instead it became a big source of corruption.
