Production in Mills Zone of SAIL, RSP touches record high

The Plate Mill, New Plate Mill and the Hot Strip Mill – 1 of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) have created records by surpassing their own annual production records  much before the completion of the present fiscal.

On 16th March 2022, the Plate Mill surpassed the earlier annual best production record of 523955 tons of plates created in 2019-20.  The six decade old Mill commissioned with an original capacity of 0.280 million tonnes per annum has been rendering service to the nation by providing quality steel plates to many prestigious national projects including defence and space mission.

On 18th March 2022, the state of art New Plate Mill crossed the previous annual best record of 875,545 T of Plate production of 2019-20 Tons.  It is worth mentioning here NPM is poised to cross annual capacity of 930,000 Tons for the first time in its history. 

On Saturday, the Hot Strip Mill-1 broke the previous annual production record of 1700840 Ton of 2019-20 by producing 1702248  Ton of HR Coil. Notably, HSM-1 has supplied 59.5 MT of HR coils to its customers since it started its production from the year 1960 and this 62 year old Mill is setting new benchmarks now.

In the mean time, the brand new Hot Strip Mill-2, that is under the process of stabilization has crossed rolling of 1 lakh ton of HR coil on 15th March 2022.

Congratulating the RSP collective on these splendid achievements, Atanu Bhowmick, Director In-Charge has exhorted it to keep challenging the limits with the aim of making RSP the Best Steel Plant of the country in every respect.
