Raipur, November 3
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday lashed out at the Centre over price rise during the festive season.
He said he wished that the Narendra Modi government had a sensitive heart for the people. “It is Diwali. Prices are at their peak. It’s not a matter of sarcasm. I wish the Modi government had a sensitive heart for the public,” Rahul Gandhi said in a tweet in Hindi.
The Congress party has been vocal against the government over the rise in fuel prices. It has accused the government of extortion in the name of taxes on petrol and diesel.
The party’s Kerala unit has been out on roads to lodged its protest against the hike.
On Tuesday, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot slammed the Centre and said that the Narendra Modi government had given people inflation as a Diwali gift.
He also said that ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to commemorate 75 years of India’s independence, will be remembered for a record increase in prices of petrol, diesel and LPG.
“Looking at the way the prices of petrol, diesel, LPG, edible oil and vegetables are increasing, it seems that the Modi government has given a Diwali gift of inflation to the people,” Gehlot said in a tweet.
