One such was in Moradabad, a prominent business in Uttar Pradesh also known as the Brass City of India. At the outskirts of the station, a platform had been built with the used sleepers to facilitate prompt loading and unloading.
According to railway officials, the platform built with the used sleepers is very strong and durable. The innovation is part of Indian Railways’ efforts to develop the network of godowns.
The additional set-up of freight loading and unloading would also help in business promotion. Countries like Britain, the US, Middle East, Germany and Canada import brassware from Moradabad that houses about 600 export units and 9000 industries in the district.
Moradabad exports goods worth Rs. 4500 crore yearly. Products such as iron sheet, metal wares, aluminum, artworks and glassware are exported. The export of mint is done in several crores from Moradabad. Due to upsurge of exports and popularity in foreign particularly in America, Europe, Italy and other countries, a large number of exporters are launching their units and started their export.
The only Uttar Pradesh Government developed SEZ in northern India is located in Moradabad.
