The rain robbed the last-minute excitement of Chhattisgarh Cricket Premier League (CCPL) Season 2 allowing the two top teams to cruise the finals unchallenged.
The final match at the Veer Narayan Singh Stadium at the Nava Raipur could not be played due to rain, Raipur Rhinos and Rajnandgaon Panthers teams were declared joint winners.
The Chhattisgarh Cricket Premier League Season 2 was organized from June 6 to June 15. Raipur Rhinos, Rajnandgaon Panthers, Raigarh Lions, Bastar Bisons, Bilaspur Bulls and Surguja Tigers teams participated in the tournament.
Captains of Raipur Rhinos and Rajnandgaon Panthers team Amandeep Khare and Ajay Mandal received the Winners’ Cup from Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Sai said that it was a matter of good fortune for Chhattisgarh that a cricket tournament like CCPL was organized here in a grand manner. “In Chhattisgarh, we are constantly trying to promote all sports. Through Chhattisgarh Cricket Premier League, talented cricket players of the state have got a great opportunity to perform. Chhattisgarh State Cricket Association deserves congratulations for this event,” the Chief Minister said.
“I also congratulate and wish all the teams a bright future and wish all the players a bright future. It is a matter of great joy that despite the bad weather, a large number of cricket lovers are present in the stadium. I hope that the Chhattisgarh State Cricket Association will continue to organize Chhattisgarh Cricket Premier League in the same way in future,” he added.
Chhattisgarh Sports Minister Tankaram Verma BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla, officials of Chhattisgarh State Cricket Association and a large number of cricket lovers were present on the occasion.
