The Raipur Kerala Samajam, a social organization formed by the Keralites in the Chhattisgarh capital, celebrated the Onam festival with zeal and passion at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium on Sunday.
Dr S Bharti Dasan, Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer and Secretary to the Chief Minister, School Education and Public Health Engineering Department, Government of Chhattisgarh was the chief guest at the event. Dipanshu Kabra, Indian Police Service (IPS) officer and Commissioner Public Relations and Transport, CEO Chhattisgarh Samvad, Government of Chhattisgarh was the special guest on the occasion.
The program was presided over by Vinod Pillai, President of Raipur Kerala Samajam while the vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Jacob Sakaria, General Secretary of Raipur Kerala Samajam.
Dr Sakaria informed that besides the office bearers of the Samajam, a large number of Keralites were present in the program that packed the auditorium.
In his address, the Chief Guest wished the people of Raipur Kerala society a very happy Onam festival and praised the society wholeheartedly, who have kept their cultural traditions alive by coming here from the remote southern province, anyway the state of Kerala is known for literacy. It is said that spreading education in the local area and helping in social work by the intellectuals of Malayali community is undoubtedly a praiseworthy task.
The Special Guest extended hearty greetings to all the people of Raipur Kerala Samajam on Onam festival. Its selfless work, social service and plan to provide education to children was greatly appreciated. He shared the purpose of establishing Raipur Kerala Samajam, the work done for the society over the years and the experience of carrying out social work with mutual tolerance. Presently, to improve the education, he also shared the example of Adarsh Vidyalaya Group of Schools running in English medium.
The colorful programs presented by the people of Raipur Kerala Samajam mesmerised the audience. The special attraction of the festival was the orchestra and comedy show presented by the Time Jokes team from Kerala.
The program concluded with Onam Sadha (feast) in which special dishes of Kerala were served. The former presidents of Raipur Kerala Samajam were honored on this occasion.
