The 2005-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) Officer, Rajat Kumar has been bestowed the responsibility of General Administration Department (GAD) in Chhattisgarh.
Besides holding the departments of commerce and industry, Kumar will now be holding the charge of Secretary in the department of GAD. He will take charge from his batch-mate Mukesh Kumar Bansal, who holds charge of Secretary to the Chief Minister besides Finance and Commercial Tax.
Kumar has been instrumental in drafting the new industrial policy 2024-29 that has been facilitating the state to attract investment. Now, he has been given the responsibility of another crucial department of general administration.
The profile of GAD includes overseeing the administration of government employees, including recruitment, promotion, and transfer, managing the overall functioning of the state government, including its various departments and agencies and handling various administrative matters, including policy implementation, coordination between departments, and communication with the public.
