Ramky Enviro Engineers Limited, a leading provider of comprehensive environment management services in Asia, to develop a Zero Liquid Discharge Common Effluent Treatment Plant (ZLD-CETP) at Saidpura, Derabassi, Punjab.
An agreement towards the acquisition of Saidpura Envirotech by Ramky Enviro and a ground-breaking ceremony was held at the project site in Saidpura, Derabassi, Mohali Dist, Punjab. Representatives from the Pharma manufacturing industry, Punjab Pollution Control Board (PCB), Mohali and Ramky Enviro were present on the occasion.
The proposed plant will treat and recycle the effluent generated by the Pharma industries, ensuring compliance to standards as well as improved resource utilisation and water recycling. The treated water will be reused by the industries to address their process requirements. The plant will have a capacity to treat 2 Million Litres of industrial wastewater every-day and is proposed to be built in two phases, spread over a period of 2 years. This will be the first of its kind ZLD-CETP in Punjab.
The project is being developed by Ramky Enviro by acquiring Saidpura Envirotech, an SPV incorporated by an association of the Pharma industries in the area. The Government of Punjab is supporting the project by making available the land required land for the ZLD-CETP through Derabassi Municipal Council on a long-term lease basis.
Masood Mallick, JMD, Ramky Enviro Engineers Limited, said, “We are delighted to commence our ZLD-CETP project in Punjab. The CETP will employ best-in-class process and environmental engineering practices leveraging our global experience and expertise. A high throughput design is being adopted to enable project execution within an aggressive time frame. Additionally, there will be a strong focus on occupational health, safety and environmental risk management. We are confident this first of its kind ZLD-CETP will deliver an environmentally sustainable, compliant and efficient solution for the effluent treatment and water conservation needs of industry in the region”.
Speaking at the ceremony, representing the industry, NR Munjal, Managing Director of
Ind Swift Laboratories and Parveen Goyal, Managing Director of Saurav Chemicals expressed satisfaction that the long desire of having CETP project was finally becoming a reality. With the Expansion of the industries, the establishment of CETP was the need of the hour and we are sure that the project would be ably handled by Ramky Enviro by setting up a robust facility operational within a year. The CETP will give a boost to the development of Pharma industries in Punjab particularly in Derabassi/ Lalru belt and will also create tremendous job opportunities both direct and indirect and other numerous
benefits tangible and intangible. This would also result in the overall development of the State and further scope for setting up of new pharma units. They also felt that further expansion of the CETP will be required shortly as a large-scale expansion of the industry is expected.
