RERA locks Bihar builder’s accounts

The bank accounts of the promoters of the several fancy housing projects in Patna have been frozen following orders of the Real Estates Regulatory Authority (RERA).

RERA passed an order today directing the manager of a private bank in Anisabad here to freeze all accounts of the Palvi Raj constructions Limited and its owners with immediate effect. It had also asked Registration of Companies to provide details of the promoters’ company so that “authority may take necessary action against the respondent company.”

District and sub registrars of revenue department at Patna, Phulwarisharif, Danapur, Bihta have been directed not to register any apartment, plot of project under Goa City, Mumbai Residency, Bollywood Residency till further orders. These projects have been advertised by the Palvi Raj constructions which has been declared illegal and unauthorised by RERA.

The real estate regulator also asked the banks to put a ban on large withdrawal of money from the bank accounts on or after February 25. Banks have been directed to inform RERA about large money withdrawals.

Yesterday, RERA had cautioned the purchasers against investing in the projects of the company as it was not registered with RERA and had fraudulently issued big advertisements claiming presence of half a dozen ministers, MPs and MLA at foundation laying of the Goa City project scheduled for the day.

The company was not available for a comment on the issue.
