In a music concert, ‘Tum mujhe yoon bhula na paoge’, organized at DAMITS Auditorium, Rourkela on Sunday, the talented singers of ‘Sangeet Tarang Music Club’ of the Steel City, Rourkela paid rich tributes to the legendary Bollywood singer, Mohammed Rafi.
Dr. Jatindra Nayak, Chairman, DAMITS, was the Chief Guest of the evening. Lion Vinod Mohunta, IMDG, Lions Club and Chairman, Sangeet Tarang was also present on the occasion. The dignitaries and a large number of audience paid floral tributes to Mohammed Rafi, the immortal playback singer who has carved a niche with more than 7,000 songs, in different genres, in his repertoire.
The show opened with the theme song ‘Tum mujhe yun bhula na paoge’, an all time Rafi hit from the film ‘Pagla kahin ka’. It was followed by a heart touching timeless classic ‘Aaj Mausam bada beiman hei’. Other popular songs like Teri aankho ke siwa, Bekhudi me sanam, Dard-e-dil, Jhilmil sitaron ka, Kitna pyara wada, Gulabi aankhey, aaja tujhko pukare mere geet, pukarta chala hun main, le gayi dil gudiya Japan ki, janewalo jaraa made the evening a musical treat with the audience yearning for more.
The singers who presented the mellifluous numbers were Dr. P K Sahoo, Tapan Nayak, Ashok Patel, Ajay Khatua, Dillip Parida, Ankita, Deepak, Subhashree, Narendra, Bibhudutta, Santosh Das, Satya Mohanty, Bimal Sahoo, Reena Kadambala, Reena Senapati, Satyanjay Tripathy, Ashwini, Baljit Singh, Sukhpal Singh, Pradeep Mohanta, Basavdutta Mohanty and Archana Satpthy. Ms. Swapnashree and Mr. Firoz anchored the show.
Deep commitment to music of the Sangeet Tarang family and its ardent devotion to the art and craft of the legendary Mohammad Rafi was beautifully showcased in this glorious tribute to both melody as well as the melody maker.
