Udaipur, June 10
Adani Foundation organized an agricultural development programme and health awareness camp on Monday in Udaipur block of Surguja district in Chhattisgarh.
Maize seeds were distributed free of cost to a total of 57 farmers in the Gram Panchayat Bhawan of village Parsa under the CSR activities of Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RRVUNL). In the seed distribution, a total of 170 kg of maize seeds were distributed to 57 farmers of villages Tara, Janardanpur, Fattepur, Parsa and Basan villages around Parsa East Kete Basen and Parsa Coal Block Project.
The initiative of ‘Annapurna Project’ based on sustainable livelihood in advanced agricultural development in the area will enable farming in 21.25 acres of land. Its objective is to motivate farmers to consume the produce as well as make it a source of income by providing maize seeds and marketing assistance to them.
At the same time, in the same program, an eye check-up camp was organized and power glasses were distributed among a total of 65 villagers. The goal of both these initiatives was to strengthen the livelihood of rural communities and improve health facilities.
Chief of Cluster of Adani Enterprises Mukesh Kumar was present as the chief guest in the program. Cluster HR Head Ram Dwivedi, Sarpanch of village Tara Mrs. Sampatiya Singh, Sarpanch of Janardanpur Vijay Kumar Porte, Manohar Neti of Parsa and Shripal of Basan along with other villagers were present. The seeds and glasses were distributed to the farmers and villagers by Mukesh Kumar, Ram Dwivedi and the Sarpanches present.
Addressing the villagers, Mukesh Kumar said, “The group is conducting various activities of education, health, livelihood enhancement and infrastructure development in the area. In today’s programme, while on one hand farmers are being motivated to increase their income through agricultural development, on the other hand the group is also making efforts to make the general public aware about their health. It shows our commitment to all-round development in the area.”
The Sarpanches present at the function appreciated the initiative and said that this will bring positive change in the lives of the villagers. The successful organization of the program was supported by Ashok Kumar Panda, Head of Adani Foundation Surguja Cluster and his team.
Through these two programmes, Adani Foundation and RRVUNL have taken another step towards sustainable contribution in rural development, livelihood improvement and health services. Apart from this, the Foundation is running various schemes of education, health, livelihood development and infrastructure development keeping in mind the major needs of 14 villages near the mine.
The series includes renovation and wall painting of all the nearby government schools, construction of additional classrooms and concrete toilets, construction of roads in the village and renovation and beautification of passenger waiting rooms etc. Also, to promote environmental sustainability, more than 15 lakh saplings have been planted in more than 1200 acres of mined land.
