Twelve persons from Lathikata and Bisra bocks as well as the Industrial Township of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) have benefited under the free surgical scheme, ‘Project Charaka.’

RSP, an arm of state-run Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), has been running the project under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) head in collaboration with the Ispat General Hospital. 

According to RSP spokesperson, twelve patients were identified of the suppressed and neglected problem of hydrocele in the Multi Disciplinary Camp held earlier in the different Blocks. They were all referred to Ispat General Hospital.

A team of doctors from Surgical stream of IGH led by Dr. M K Panigrahi, Additional CMO (M&HS) assisted by nurses and staff successfully carried out the entire surgical process.  After obtaining a satisfactory post-surgical report, the patients were discharged.

The entire expenditure of the surgeries and medication was borne by RSP.
