RSS Sarsanghchalak visits Donyi Polo Nyedar Namlo of Arunachal Pradesh

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat visited Donyi Polo Nyedar Namlo, the revered indigenous prayer center of Nyishi Janjati in Naharlagun of Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday.

It was a momentous and spiritually enriching stopover of Sarsanghchalak Dr Bhagwat as the Namlo is dedicated to the worship of Sun (Donyi) and Moon (Polo), which holds profound cultural and spiritual significance for Nyishi community and the indigenous people of northeast Bharat.

The RSS chief was warmly received by the Namlo committee and devotees, expressing deep happiness and gratitude for his visit. With reverence and humility, the Sarsanghchalak participated in the prayer ceremony alongside the local devotees, immersing himself in the sacred and peaceful atmosphere of the Namlo. Dr Bhagwat’s presence and active participation in the rituals highlighted his deep respect for the age-old spiritual heritage of indigenous communities in Arunachal and their time-honored traditions.

The Namlo stands as a spiritual pillar for the Nyishi people, where prayers and rituals are performed every Sunday to honor Donyi Polo – the celestial deities symbolizing universal existence, enlightenment, and the harmony of nature. The Sarsanghchalak’s visit was not only a gesture of spiritual solidarity but also an affirmation of enduring cultural and religious traditions that bind the indigenous communities of Arunachal.

Throughout his visit, Dr Bhagwat engaged in meaningful discussions with the Namlo priests and devotees, acknowledging their dedication in preserving their indigenous customs and traditions. He praised their unwavering commitment in maintaining sacred practices of their ancestors while fostering spiritual unity. Dr Bhagwat also underscored the importance of balancing the preservation of cultural heritage with modern aspirations, emphasizing that spiritual practices like those at Donyi Polo Nyedar Namlo are essential in strengthening societal harmony towards the common goal of nation building.

The visit concluded with prayers for universal peace, prosperity and well-being, leaving the devotees and all present at the prayer center deeply inspired. Dr Bhagwat’s presence reaffirmed the significance of preserving indigenous cultural and spiritual traditions and their role in fostering a harmonious and inclusive future for all.

The four-day visit of RSS Sarsanghchalak to Arunachal came to an end on Sunday after completion of 2-day long RSS Karyakarta Shivir, following which Dr Bhagwat was scheduled to fly back to Guwahati for his further deliberations.
