Panipat, March 12
The work of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has significantly increased post COVID and the organisation aims to reach 1 lakh places over a period of next one year.
Sah Sarkaryavah of the RSS Dr Manmohan Vaidya said in 2025, Sangh would be completing its 100 years of coming into being. At present the Sangh is playing its role in the important work of social transformation by working directly at 71355 places. “The Sangh aims to reach one lakh places by the next one year,” Dr Vaidya said.
Sangh work has increased even after the Corona disaster in the year 2020. In 2020, there were 62491 shakhas at 38913 places, weekly meetings at 20303 places and monthly congregations at 8732 places. In 2023, the number had increased to 68651 shakhas at 42613 places, weekly meetings at 26877 places and monthly congregations at 10412 places, he added.
In the organisation set up by the Sangh, there are 911 districts across the country, out of which the direct work of the Sangh goes on in 901 districts. In 88 percent of the 6663 blocks, out of 59326 mandals, 26498 mandals have direct branches of the Sangh.
In order to increase the Sangh work in the centenary year, in addition to the regular Pracharaks and Vistars of the Sangh, 1300 workers have turned out to be Centenary Vistaraks for two years. Sah Sarkaryavah said, “The whole society of India is one, all are equal, all are my own, I have to give something for the society, the feeling and values of such thoughts come from the branch of the Sangh.”
The volunteers expand the work of the Sangh by taking out time from their daily work and spending money from their pocket and contributing to social change. A person is created from the branch of the Sangh, who later on plays his role in social transformation by awakening national thoughts in the society and taking the society along, Dr Vaidya said.
He added that today people’s interest towards Sangh is increasing. People are searching for Sangh and requesting to connect with Sangh through digital platforms. From the year 2017 to 2022, the Sangh has received 7,25,000 requests through Join RSS. Most of these are youths in the age group of 20 to 35, who want to join the Sangh for social service.
Dr Vaidya said the interest of the youth in daily shakhas was also increasing. Over 60 per cent of the Sangh’s activities are related to student branches. In the last one year, 121137 youths have received the primary education of the Sangh. In the coming year’s plan, 109 teaching classes of Sangh education will be organized across the country, in which about 20 thousand volunteers are expected to receive education.
Earlier, Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat and Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale inaugurated the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha that started in Panipat. The meeting of RSS’ highest decision making body, which will conclude on March 14, is being attended by 1474 representatives of 34 organizations from all over the country.
