New Delhi, December 2
The opposition members raised protest demanding revocation of the suspension of 12 members and created pandemonium propelling Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu to adjourn the House till noon.
The 12 Opposition members – six from Congress, two from Trinamool Congress, two from Shiv Sena and one each from CPI(M) and CPI – were suspended on Monday for the rest of the Winter Session for their unruly behaviour in the last session.
Naidu read out a statement on the suspension issue on Thursday after the customary laying of the papers by members. He said this was not the first time that members were suspended. Between 1962 and 2010, members were suspended on 11 occasions, he said.
The Chairman also added that while Opposition MPs were protesting against the suspension, they failed to note about what the 12 members did in the House for which the stringent action was taken.
As the uproar by the Opposition MPs continued, the Chairman adjourned the House till noon.
