Eight mines of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a flagship arm of state-run Coal India Limited (CIL), has bagged awards for mines safety.
Union Minister of Labour and Employment, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav gave away the National Safety Awards (Mines) to SECL at a function held in New Delhi on Tuesday. The Ministry of Labour and Employment has instituted the award in 1983 to recognise the contribution of company in occupational safety, health and welfare of persons employed in all mines.
M K Prasad, Director Technical (operation and personnel) and S K Pal, Director Technical (planning and project) received the awards on behalf of the SECL.
The mines that were recognised for accident-free, minimum injury and minimum injury rate included Rajendra underground mine for the year 2017, Singhali underground for 2018, Charcha mine for 2019, Kurasiya Colliery for 2019, Kurja underground for 2019, Bartarai underground colliery for 2020, Jagannathpur opencast mine for 2020 while Shivani underground mine bagged the award in two different categories for the year 2018 and 2020.
The Chairman-cum-Managing Director of SECL, Dr Premsagar Mishra and the Board of Directors had congratulated the employees and all stakeholders for the feat.
