A significant milestone in the development of SAIL’s Rowghat iron ore project was achieved with the signing of the Mining Services Agreement for ‘Selection of New Mine Developer-cum-Operator (MDO) for Development and Operation of 14 MTPA Rowghat Mining Project at Rowghat, Chhattisgarh’ between Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) and M/s Kalinga Commercial Corporation Ltd., Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
The agreement envisages a contract implementation period of 28 years, which includes a construction period of three years. The new MDO will undertake comprehensive development and operation of the mine, aimed at augmenting iron ore supply for SAIL’s integrated steel plants and ensuring long-term raw material security.
The contract was formally signed by Anupam Bisht, CGM (Rowghat) on behalf of SAIL and Manoj Ranjan Samal, Director (Finance) on behalf of M/s Kalinga Commercial Corporation Ltd.
The Mining Services Agreement signing ceremony was graced by the presence of S. Mukhopadhyay, ED (Projects); Praveen Nigam, ED (F&A); Pawan Kumar, ED (HR); Bipin Kumar Giri, ED (Mines); Arun Kumar, ED (Rowghat) and other senior officials from Bhilai Steel Plant, along with representatives from Consultant CET and M/s Kalinga Commercial Corporation Ltd.
