SAIL–Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) has delivered an extraordinary production performance in November 2025, achieving multiple records and setting new benchmarks for the month of November across almost every major production unit, reflecting plant’s strong operational discipline, robust process management and sustained push for productivity enhancement.

In the category of all-time best achievements, at BF-8, Hot Metal Production rose to 2,44,815 tonnes, crossing last November’s 2,43,130 tonnes, while total hot metal production for the plant increased to 5,12,081 tonnes, up from 5,05,761 tonnes in November 2022. In steel melting operations, SMS-3 achieved a strong upswing with Cast Steel Production of 3,02,127 tonnes, bettering its previous November output of 3,00,840 tonnes. Billet production touched 2,07,791 tonnes, surpassing the earlier 2,02,652 tonnes mark set in November 2023. Total crude steel output reached 4,90,407 tonnes, improving upon the earlier benchmark of 4,85,035 tonnes.

The Universal Rail Mill also contributed significantly to the month’s record-breaking performance, registering Finished Rail Production of 77,123 tonnes, a rise over November 2022’s 76,496 tonnes. Its Prime Rail Production climbed to 73,684 tonnes, marginally higher than the previous best figure of 72,026 made in November 2022. The Rails & Structural Mill complemented this momentum by producing 1,19,288 tonnes of Total Finished Rails, an improvement from 1,16,332 tonnes, and 1,06,467 tonnes of Prime Rails, better than the earlier 1,04,561 tonnes, surpassing the records of November 2022. Total long rail production at this mill rose to 83,915 tonnes, exceeding the earlier 83,061 tonnes record of November 2022.

In the finished steel segment, the plant recorded 4,01,949 tonnes of Total Finished Steel, significantly higher than last November’s figure of 3,88,240 tonnes, while saleable steel production reached a robust 4,44,211 tonnes, surpassing the 4,28,350 tonnes achieved in November 2024. Despatch performance also witnessed substantial improvement. Loading of long rails at URM touched 75,735 tonnes, with total long rail loading rising to 90,763 tonnes. Prime rails loading reached 1,05,896 tonnes, marking a sharp increase from 94,877 tonnes made in November 2024. Loading for direct despatch was recorded at 2,41,489 tonnes, while loading of saleable steel rose to 4,40,346 tonnes, and plate loading stood at 1,16,200 tonnes, exceeding the previous November figures.

Alongside this, the plant posted its highest-ever Labour Productivity at 811 tonnes per man per year, exceeding the earlier best of 803 T/M/Y recorded in October 2025. These milestones underline the plant’s enduring emphasis on efficiency improvement and workforce effectiveness. Techno-economic indicators also reflected strong progress. BF Productivity (1–8) improved to 2.09 T/M³/Day, against the previous November’s 1.96.

Congratulating the plant collective on this stellar performance, the plant’s Senior Management has lauded the collective commitment, technological excellence, and team spirit that enabled this achievement.
