Achieving a significant milestone towards expanding its global footprint, SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant on Thursday dispatched its first consignment of export-grade steel slabs (SAE1006 Grade) produced at its Steel Melting Shop-2 (SMS-2).

The inaugural rake was ceremoniously flagged off from the SBS Yard of SMS-2 by Rakesh Kumar, ED (Works), in the presence of Susanta Kumar Ghosal, CGM (SMS-2), T Govind, GM (SMS-2), and other senior officials, personnel, and key stakeholders.

The inaugural dispatch marks the beginning of a 30,000-ton order of high-quality steel slabs conforming to stringent international standards. The first rake is destined for Indonesia, where the slabs will be deployed in high-end applications across various industries.

This achievement has been made possible with seamless coordination between SMS-2 and multiple departments, including RCL, PPC, Blast Furnace, Instrumentation, and RDCIS.

As the flagship unit of the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Bhilai Steel Plant has consistently demonstrated its capability to meet global market requirements. The successful commencement of SAE1006 slab exports further strengthens BSP’s position as a trusted partner in the international steel supply chain and paves the way for enhanced participation in global trade.
