Tenth International Yoga Day-2024′ was observed by SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant collective on Friday morning at Bhilai Niwas.
S Mukhopadhyay, ED (Projects), Pawan Kumar, ED (HR), B K Giri, ED (Mines), and Dr. Ravindranath M, CMO I/c (M&HS) participated in yoga sessions. This year Bhilai Steel Plant observed Yoga Day on the theme “Yoga for self and society”. Yoga practice sessions were also organized in various departments of the Plant.
As many as 50 Senior Officials and Plant personnel including Sandeep Mathur, CGM (HR), S K Soni, CGM (HR-Non. Works), and Parvinder Singh, General Secretary (OA-BSP) participated in yoga sessions at Bhilai Niwas. All the participants present during the Yoga Day observance performed yoga collectively at the Multipurpose Hall of Bhilai Niwas, under the guidance and direction of Yoga-Guru Ranobesh Sarkar, and G P Singh. The yoga session included several asanas, pranayam, and meditation.
This program was organized in collaboration with the Department of Sports Cultural and Civil Amenities (SC&CA), under the guidance of S R Jakhar, DGM (SC&CA). The 10th ‘International Yoga Day-2024’ programme was compered by Sarjeet Chakraborty of SC&CA Department. Abhijit Bhowmick, Asst. Mgr. (SCCA) also contributed in organizing the programme successfully.
The International Yoga Day aims to promote yoga for health, spiritual development, and global peace. Yoga is an invaluable gift of the ancient Indian tradition. Yoga plays an important role in balancing our lifestyle and reducing stress. Yoga creates harmony between man and nature.
SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant Collective celebrates International Yoga Day every year at its various departments, schools, and Mining townships with collective yoga sessions, to encourage everyone to adopt yoga as a regular practice in their daily life.
Acknowledging the principle of World Health on International Yoga Day, this year’s theme emphasizes the role of yoga in the overall well-being of all and promotes the transformative effect of yoga on the life of every individual. Yoga has today been recognized by several countries in the world. In 2014, the proposal to celebrate June 21 as International Yoga Day was approved by 177 members of the United Nations Organization (UNO).
