Even as the financial year 2022-23 is coming to a close, several new records of production were set by SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant on 22nd March 2023.
The Plant’s finishing mills including Universal Rail Mill, Rail and Structural Mill, Merchant Mill, Wire Rod Mill, Bar & Rod Mill and Plate Mill together set a new day record in production of finished steel for the second consecutive day. On 22nd March, the Plant produced 17,354 Tonnes of finished products from its finishing mills, surpassing previous best of 17,049 Tonnes produced a day earlier on 21st March 23.
Another day record was set by Merchant Mill that produces TMT Bars, angles and channels. On 22nd March, Merchant Mill produced 3125 Tonnes of TMT 32 Bars, surpassing previous best of 3105 Tonnes on 19th March 23. Merchant Mill also set a new shift record of 1155 Tonnes of TMT 32 bars on 22nd March, surpassing previous best shift record of 1118 Tonnes on 26th Jan 23.
With nine days to go before the current fiscal year ends, Plate Mill that rolls out a wide variety of plates for different applications has already surpassed its best ever record of cumulative direct despatches in any financial year. On 22nd March 23, the Mill recorded cumulative despatches of 5,70,000 Tonnes plates directly to customers in current financial year, surpassing total direct despatches of 5,67,000 Tonnes recorded in 2021-22, which was the best ever in any financial year so far.
The Plant’s Sinter Plant 3 too has surpassed its best ever financial year record of 52,65,400 Tonnes of sinter produced in 2021-2022 by recording cumulative production of 52,71,691 T of sinter in current financial year till 22nd March 23.
