SAIL-Bhilai’s URM makes another milestone

SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant created a new daily record on September 2, 2022 by making 227 rail welded joints, breaking the previous record of 221 Rail welded joints set on October 29, 2021.

The plant located in Chhattisgarh’s Durg district has been producing world class quality rails for Indian Railways for over six decades as per desired specifications, quality, profile and length.

As rail makers to the Nation, SAIL’s Bhilai Steel Plant has been an integral part of the day-to-day operations of the Indian Railways, the National Carrier. SAIL-BSP has rolled out the desired volume, quality and length of rails to meet the changing requirements, year after year, progressively improving standards to roll out world class rails as per stringent specifications of the Indian Railways.

The Rails produced by SAIL/BSP traverse the length and breadth of the Country.

In another record, SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant’s Merchant Mill has created a new day record. On September 02, 2022, Merchant Mill set a new day record in producing 65 mm Angles.

1929 T of 65 mm Angles were produced on September 2nd, 2022, surpassing the previous best of 1862 T of 65 mm Angles on 28th August 2022.

Anirban Dasgupta, Director In-charge, Bhilai Steel Plant and Anjani Kumar, Executive Director (Works) applauded the URM collective and the Merchant Mill collective for the achievement.
