SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant concluded the first seven months of current fiscal year from April to October 2021 with best ever performances in several areas.
The Plant recorded its best finished steel production of 21,06,111 Tonnes (T) for the period as against previous best of 21,01,266 T recorded in April to Oct period of fiscal year 2008-09. Best ever saleable steel production of 26,47,859 T was recorded for the period as against previous best of 26,42,374 T recorded in April to Oct period of fiscal year 2013-14. Loading for direct despatches at 14,52,255 T and loading of saleable steel at 26,73,724 T during April to Oct 21 period were also the best ever since inception, surpassing previous best of 11,76,213 T in FY 2019-20 and 26,15,623 T in FY 2013-14, respectively.
Several shops and departments set individual records for the April to Oct period. Refractory Materials Plant 3 recorded its best ever production of 2,21,638 T as against previous best of 1,55.991 T recorded in corresponding period of last fiscal 2020-21. Total sinter production from SP 2 and SP 3 at 28,34,749 T has been the best ever for the period, surpassing previous best of 27,26,018 T in April to Oct period of fiscal 2019-20. Blast Furnace 8 recorded its highest hot metal production of 14,53,190 T during the period, surpassing previous best of 14,09,063 T recorded in corresponding period of last fiscal 2020-21.
Modex unit, Steel Melting Shop 3 has recorded best ever cast steel production of 15,02,955 T, best ever cast billet production of 9,16,781 T and best ever cast bloom production of 5,86,173 T for April to Oct period as against previous best of 11,06,480 T, 6,38,441 T and 4,67,689 T, respectively during corresponding period of last fiscal 2020-21.
Universal Rail Mill recorded best ever finished rail production of 4,02,727 T and highest prime rail production of 3,61,281 T for April to Oct period as against previous best figures of 3,90,473 T and 3,54,043 T, respectively during corresponding period of last fiscal 2020-21. The modern Mill rolls out the world’s longest 130 metre rail in single piece. A new R260 grade with new 60E1 profile is being rolled out in the current fiscal for Indian Railways.
Bar & Rod Mill, another Modex unit recorded its best ever production of 3,95,373 T for April to Oct period as against previous best of 1,59,917 T during corresponding period of last fiscal 2020-21.
The Plant’s Plate Mill too recorded its best ever production of 65,326 T of boiler quality plates during the period, surpassing previous best of 63,548 T during April to Oct period of fiscal year 2017-18.
Best ever monthly records created by several departments in October 21.
While SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant has recorded best ever monthly finished steel production in the month of Oct 2021, several shops and departments of SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant including Ore Handling Plant, Refractory Materials Plant 3, Coke Ovens, Sinter Plant 3, Steel Melting Shop 3, Bar & Rod Mill have recorded best ever monthly production in the month.
The Plant recorded best ever monthly finished steel production of 3,50,694 Tonnes in the month of Oct 2021, surpassing previous best of 3,42,467 T recorded in the month of August 2021.
The Plant’s Ore Handling Plant recorded a new high of unloading 13,986 wagons and total material handling of 18,48,235 T in month of Oct 2021, surpassing previous best of 13,561 wagons unloaded and 17,86,837 T of total material handled in the month of Aug 21.
Modex unit, RMP- 3 recorded its highest ever monthly production in Oct 21 by producing 37,271 T, surpassing the previous best of 35,719 T in March 21.
Sinter Plant 3 collective recorded its best-ever monthly sinter production of 5,05,205 T in October 2021. The previous best was 5,04,821 T in August 2021.
SMS 3, a Modex unit recorded its best ever cast steel and cast bloom production. Total cast steel production of 2,58,895 T by SMS 3 and cast bloom production of 1,06,824 T in Oct 21 have been the best in any month so far, surpassing previous best of 2,50,880 T cast steel production and 95,983 T cast bloom production recorded in March 2021
Modex unit, BRM too recorded the highest monthly production of 67,469 T in Oct 21 against the previous best of 62,861 T in August 2021.
Best ever average pushing of 91.35 ovens was recorded by Coke Oven Battery 11 in Oct 21 as against previous best of 90.32 ovens in Oct 2020.
Shri Anirban Dasgupta, Director I/c, Shri Anjani Kumar, ED (Works), Shri SN Abidi, CGM I/c Services visited OHP, RMP-3, SP-3, Coke Ovens, SMS 3 and BRM and congratulated the shop collectives and members of associated departments for putting up an excellent performance in Oct 21.
