SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant that produces high strength TMT Bars with earthquake and corrosion resistant properties for use in big projects of national importance including dams, thermal, hydro-electric and nuclear power projects, bridges, expressways, flyovers, tunnels and highrise buildings all over the country, has bagged fresh orders for supply of TMT Bars from construction major, L & T for use in Chennai Metro project and from M/s APCO and ITD Cementation for use in different railway projects.
The Plant’s modern mill, Bar & Rod Mill that has taken up commercial production of TMT Bars in 40 millimetre diameter for the first time has despatched 2100 Tonnes of TMT 40 Bars in 500D grade to M/s L & T. These earthquake-resistant TMT Bars would be used in construction activities of Chennai Metro project. Bar & Rod Mill will also soon be despatching 1600 Tonnes of earthquake resistant TMT 40 Bars in 550D grade for use by M/s APCO Infratech and ITD Cementation for use in different railway projects.
APCO Infratech is another construction major engaged in big projects including Highways, Energy Projects, Tunnel, Irrigation, Urban infrastructure. ITD Cementation is also engaged in construction activities including highways, bridges, flyovers and tunnel projects.
It is worth mentioning that SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant’s Bar & Rod Mill set up as part of the Plant’s 7 MT modex programme is designed to roll out a wide variety of sections in the form of straight bars. With infrastructure and construction activities picking up in the country, the superior product quality of TMT grades from Bar and Rod Mill are much in demand.
SAIL-BSP has in recent times been supplying large volumes of desired grades of TMT Bars for use in Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) project, popularly known as India’s bullet train project. SAIL-BSP has also supplied required grade of TMT Bars for use in construction of the bridges built over the sea in Mumbai including Bandra-Worli Sea Link and Atal Setu, for tunnels like Sela Tunnel in Arunachal Pradesh, Atal Tunnel in Himachal Pradesh and bridges in north and north east of our country including the world’s tallest railway bridge, that soars 359 metres above the bed of Chenab river in Jammu and Kashmir. SAIL-BSP has also supplied TMT products for the Central Vista project in national capital.
