SAIL-BSP’s Bar and Rod Mill celebrates “1 lakh ton” achievement

Bar & Rod Mill (BRM), a Modex Unit under the modernization and expansion plan of SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant’s Bar has a measured capacity of 0.9 million tonnes.

Plant’s BRM department created the record of “Best Monthly Production” by producing 1,01,111 tonnes of TMT bars in October – 2023, which is 135 per cent  of the measured capacity. The very challenging target of exceeding monthly production of “1 lakh ton” was achieved for the first time by the collective efforts of the department.

While performing well in the commercial areas, Mill has continuously enriched its product range by rolling out several challenging profiles and has also established several other records in the current financial year 2023-24.

To commemorate this milestone a “Gaurav Bhoj” Celebration Lunch was organized as a mark of respect for the committed BRM Collective along with the members of all other concerned departments and Plant Mgmt., at the BRM premises. Anirban Dasgupta, Director I/c (BSP) was the Chief Guest on this occasion.

Samir Swarup, ED (Rowghat) and Pawan Kumar, ED (P&A) were also present on this occasion, along with Tapas Dasgupta, CGM I/c (Iron), Prabir Kumar Sarkar, CGM I/c (Services), Asit Saha, CGM I/c (M&U), Mukesh Kumar Gupta, CGM (BRM), and other Senior Officials. Personnel from all the concerned departments who work alongside the BRM department took part in this event.

At the outset, Anirban Dasgupta cut the cake to commemorate this achievement. Addressing the gathering Dasgupta appreciated the hard work and contribution of BRM Collective for this accomplishment and said that it is with their support and dedication that BRM has crossed several milestones while maintaining optimum levels of production in its journey of excellence. Shri Anjani Kumar, ED (Works) also congratulated the BRM Collective on this occasion.

Giving credit for this achievement to the teamwork and dedication of the BRM Collective, Head of the Department Mukesh Kumar Gupta, CGM (BRM), said that this remarkable feat of substantially increased production was made possible by continuous monitoring, innovation, better utilization of resources, and compliance with the highest level of safety standards at the workplace. Shri. Gupta also expressed his gratitude to the Plant Mgmt., employees, union, and all supporting departments for their continuous cooperation and support.
