SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant’s Bar and Rod Mill, a Modex unit equipped with high-level automation and control systems has once again achieved a milestone by creating a new best-ever day production record in production.

The Mill that rolls out TMT Bars achieved a ‘Day Record’ in production on 12th September 2024 by rolling out a record 4,120 Tonnes (2,002 billets) in the challenging profile of 20mm TMT Bars, by surpassing the previous best of 4,078 Tonnes (1,978 billets) achieved on 04th August 2024. This extremely challenging target of producing 2,002 billets in a day was achieved for the first time by the team BRM through collective efforts.

It is noteworthy that Bar and Rod Mill was under emergency major repair from 06th September to 11th September 2024. After the major repair, taking minimal time for stabilization and ramp-up, the Mill achieved this feat of enhanced production the very next day.

Congratulating the entire mill fraternity on this achievement, HoD Yogesh Shastri, CGM (BRM) said that the feat of substantially increased production was made possible by continuous monitoring and hard work of the mill personnel and the full cooperation of the concerned departments.

During this emergency major repair of BRM, commendable coordination between various central agencies (CMM, Electrical Organization, Refractory Engg., EMD, and other departments) was observed, whereby each agency completed the assigned tasks successfully on time. The extremely challenging tasks of fast finishing block and grouting of the stand were also completed with unprecedented coordination and precise timing.

This major repair was successfully completed under the guidance of Sanjay Kumar Gajbhiye, CGM I/c (M&U), BK Behera CGM (Mechanical), and TK Krishnakumar CGM (Electrical).
