The Bar and Rod Mill of Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP), an entity of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), achieved best-ever rolling 1984 Billets into 4078 Tonnes of TMT Bars on Thursday, thereby scripting a new record for ever best rolling in a day since inception.
The previous best production of 1955 billets rolled into 4013 Tonnes of TMT Bars was achieved on 19th May 2024. The senior officers of the Plant congratulated BRM Team for the record-breaking performance.
The energetic and self-motivated team of Bar and Rod Mill has been scripting record performances through its concerted efforts focused on Safety, Quality and Productivity. Congratulating the BRM team and members of associated shops and departments, Shri Anirban Dasgupta, DIC said that BRM has potential to perform at a very high level and the team should endeavour to continue to break its own records. Congratulating the collective of BRM, Shri Anjani Kumar, ED (Works) encouraged the team to remove all bottlenecks in its processes. He said that BRM team is fully capable of delivering on any target.
Present on this occasion were Yogesh Shastri, GM(BRM) Sachhidanand Tripathi, GM(Oprn), Saswat Mohanty, GM (Oprn), Sameer Pande, GM(Oprn), A Ashish, GM(Elec), Ashish, GM (Electrical), Tushar Srikhande, DGM(Elec), and Shikhar Tiwari, GM(Mech). Yogesh Shastri thanked DIC and ED (Works) for motivating and encouraging Team BRM and assured that they would continue to scale newer heights in future.
Bar and Rod Mill, a a modern unit with state-of-the-art technology set up as part of the 7 MT Modex programme of Bhilai Steel Plant is designed to roll out a wide variety of sections in the form of straight bars and wire rod coils. With infrastructure and construction activities picking up, the superior product quality of TMT grade products from SAIL-Bhilai’s Bar & Rod Mill are much in demand.
Packaged neatly, products from Bar & Rod Mill have already reached various corners of the country including Nagpur, Vishakhapatnam, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Ghaziabad and Jaipur. The superior product quality of products, with negative tolerance and consistent mechanical properties and good weldability produced, has been widely appreciated by customers of SAIL-Bhilai.
It is also noteworthy that products rolled from BRM have been used in prestigious projects of national importance like Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed Rail Corridor, Coastal Road projects, Central Vista Project, Border Road projects , BARC Mumbai, Ram Mandir project in Ayodhya, to name a few besides tunnels and bridges.
