SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant’s Modex units, Steel Melting Shop 3, Blast Furnace 8, Sinter Plant 3, Bar and Rod Mill and Universal Rail Mill as also the Plant’s older Mills, Plate Mill and Rail and Structural Mill have surpassed previous records of production for the April to December period of fiscal year.
Modex unit, Blast Furnace 8 recorded best ever production of 1.98 MT as against 1.90 MT recorded in corresponding period of 2021-22. Steel Melting Shop 3, another Modex unit, recorded best ever Cast Steel Production of 2.51 MT as against previous best of 2.18 MT in corresponding period last year 22-23. SMS 3 also recorded highest ever Cast Billet Production of 1.72 MT as against 1.36 MT in corresponding period last year 22-23, thereby recording growth of 28.9 per cent growth over corresponding period last year.
Modex unit Bar & Rod Mill recorded best ever production of 7,37,502 Tonnes in April to Dec 23 period of current fiscal year as against previous best of 6,06,419 T in corresponding period of last fiscal year 22-23, thereby recording a growth of 21.6 per cent.
Modex unit Universal Rail Mill that rolls out the world’s longest 130 metre rails has recorded best ever prime rail production of 6,11,864 T in April to Dec 23 period of current fiscal year as against previous best of 5,71,966 T in corresponding period of last fiscal year 22-23, thereby recording growth of 7 per cent over corresponding period last year 22-23. The Mill also recorded highest ever Long Rail Production of 5,87,961 T as against previous best of 5,64,014 T in corresponding period of last fiscal year 22-23
The Plant’s Rail & Structural Mill also recorded highest ever Long Rail Production of 1,20,345 T in April to Dec 23 period of current fiscal year as against previous best of 1,10,182 T recorded in corresponding period of fiscal year 2014-15. Total Long Rail production by the Plant at 7,08,306 T from both URM and RSM has also been the highest as against 6,47,486 T recorded in corresponding period of last fiscal year 2022-23.
Plate Mill recorded best ever finished plate production of 9,69,278 Tonnes in April to Dec 23 period of current fiscal year as against previous best of 9,67,985 T in corresponding period of fiscal year 2007-08. The Mill also recorded best ever High tensile Plate production of 2,23,241 T as against previous best of 1,75,906 T in corresponding period of last fiscal year. The two remaining finishing mills of the Plant, Merchant Mill and Wire Rod Mil have recorded 16.1 per cent and 25.8 per cent growth, respectively in production over corresponding period last year.
