SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant’s Flash Butt Welding Plant (FBWP) at Sabarmati has made a record number of 282 Long Rail panels in the month of June 2024, as compared to previous best of 264 Long Rail panels in May 24.
As many as 22 rakes of 260 metre welded rail panels had been despatched to Indian Railways so far from FBWP, Sabarmati. This includes ten rakes dispatched in the April to June period of current fiscal year 2024-25 and 12 rakes dispatched in fiscal year 2023-24.
The first rake of 260 metre welded rail panels had been despatched from Sabarmati plant in November 23. The input rails for welding at the FBWP are being supplied in 26 metre length by BSP’s Rail & Structural Mill. Utilisation of the FBWP at Sabarmati has helped augment the volume of 260 metre long rail supplies to Indian Railways from SAIL-BSP.
