‘Lakshya- The target’, an interactive session was held at Auditorium Hall, Mount Club of SAIL, RSP Bolani Mines on Saturday. 

Atanu Bhowmick, Director In-Charge, chaired the session and interacted with the front-line performers drawn from various units about the issues, ideas and suggestions for increasing productivity of the mines.  P K Satapathy, ED (P&A), P K Rath, CGM In-charge (Mines) and J Chattopadhyay, CGM  (Bolani Mines) were also present in the session.

The interactive session was attended by 120 employees from different departments of the Bolani Mines.

Emphasizing on the importance of quality lumps and fines in the production chain, the Director In-Charge said, “Since lumps and fines set the tone for the quality of Hot Metal from the Blast Furnace and is a critical parameter in determining the cost of production, our focus must be on producing cost effective best quality lumps and fines with special thrust on least wastage. We’ve the advantage of technology. Let’s reap the benefits by efficiently using the advanced features and optimizing our operations.”

The DIC advised the collective to brainstorm and explore ways to plug the gaps and overcome the deterrents in achieving the goal. He also emphasized upon effective maintenance, safety and housekeeping in the shop floors. Bhowmick reassured support of the top management in mitigating issues and any efforts of the department to further improve the performance. He also urged the employees to make every effort to fulfill the Annual Business Plant (ABP) target for the year 2022-23.

Satapathy exhorted the employees to take advantage of the unique forum to discuss and help find solutions to problems on the shop floor.  He also deliberated upon various new steps being initiated in the township to further improve life.  While interacting with the employees, the ED (P&A) also touched upon various incentive schemes and welfare measures.

Rath in his address spoke on the importance of the lumps and fines in achieving the ABP target. He urged the collective to focus on quality of lumps and fines and enhance production to help the Bolani Mines achieve many critical parameters.  Mr. J. Chattopadhyay urged the employees to focus more on effective maintenance and find innovative solutions to problems.

Earlier, Rajesh Kumar, GM (Mining) made a brief presentation on the performance of Bolani Ore Mines and the position of the Mines Vis-à-vis the market. The employees enthusiastically participated in the interaction session and discussed several issues pertaining to their areas of work. They also shared their thoughts, ideas and suggestions on how safety and productivity can be further improved while keeping employees and contract workers motivated.

It is noteworthy that the HR exercise ‘Lakshya-The target’ was launched under the guidance of the DIC to provide a platform to the frontline employees of the Steel Plant to share their thoughts, ideas and suggestions on how the safety and productivity can be further improved while keeping employees motivated.
