SAIL, Rourkela holds Groundbreaking Ceremony for 2 MTPA Pellet Plant Project

The Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), an arm of state-run Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), held the groundbreaking Ceremony and Bhumi Puja for the 2 MTPA Pellet Plant Project.

It was performed by Sudip Pal Chowdhury, ED (Projects) at SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) on Wednesday. Present on the occasion were P K Sahoo, Former ED Projects of RSP, Pinaki Choudhury, CGM (Projects); S S Roychoudhury, CGM (Maintenance); D K Bhanja, CGM (Power Distribution), and many other senior officers of RSP, CET as well as officials from Consortium of M/s Orissa Metaliks Private Limited and M/s Rosemary Sponge and Ispat Private Limited.

Notably, RSP has signed a contract with Consortium of M/s Orissa Metaliks Private Limited and M/s Rosemary Sponge and Ispat Private Limited for the “Installation of 2 MPTA Pellet Plant at RSP on Construct, Operate and Maintain (COM) basis on February 14, 2025.

The 2 MTPA Pellet Plant is a significant step towards strengthening RSP’s production capabilities and enhancing operational efficiency. The project is scheduled to be completed within 24 months from the effective date of signing. The contract includes an Operations and Maintenance (O&M) period of 20 years, with a provision to extend it for an additional five years on mutually agreed terms and conditions.
The overall consultant for the project is CET, while PwC has been engaged as the associated consultant.
