Rourkela, September 17
Vishwakarma Puja, the Puja of the divine craftsman who crafted the chariots and weapons and built several cities, was celebrated with zeal and zest in Rourkela Steel Plant on 17th September.
The exquisitely crafted idols of Lord Vishwakarma adorning the ornately decorated Puja pandals evoked feelings of devotion and veneration among the devotees. It is to be noted that more than 100 pandals were erected inside the Steel Plant by the enthusiastic employees.
Atanu Bhowmick, Director In-Charge, SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) & Bokaro Steel Plant along with S R Suryawanshi, ED (Works), P K Satapathy, ED (P&A), P K Sahoo, ED (Projects), Somnath Tripathy, ED (MM), Dr B K Hota, ED (M&HS), Alok Verma, ED (Mines), A K Behuria, ED (F&A) and many other senior officers of the Plant visited a number of Puja Pandals inside the Steel Plant. While, interacting with the employees, Bhowmick praised their enthusiasm as well as their creative and innovative spirit.
Later the DIC along with other dignitaries went to Deepika Hast Kargha, the handloom centre set up by RSP and managed by Deepika Mahila Sanghati. Mrs Seema Deb Bhowmick, President and other office bearers of the Sanghati were present on the occasion.
According to Hindu mythology Lord Vishwakarma, the architect of the abode of the Gods, is worshipped as a symbol of creativity, ingenuity and industry. In a technology centred industry like Rourkela Steel Plant the celebrations carry a special significance.
