SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has undertaken Gift Milk Programme under its CSR initiative to address the triple burden of Malnutrition that is under nutrition, hidden hunger and overweight among the school going children in compliance with the Goal 2 of Sustainable Development Goals for ensuring accessibility to safe, nutritious and wholesome food.

RSP (RSP) has collaborated with National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) for Nutrition, Anand, Gujarat and District Administration for implementation of this programme.

It is noteworthy that the initiative covers 1150 children from 22 schools of Bisra Block. As a part of the unique CSR initiative, 200 ml bottled fortified flavoured milk is being given to each child studying in Government Schools from class 1 to 5 on all working days at school premises for improving overall health, growth and nutrition of the children. The Milk is being supplied by Odisha Milk Federation (OMFED) which has been arranged by NDDB.

In addition to this  nutritious mid day meal are being provided to about  38000 students of various schools in and around Rourkela on every working daythrough the Akshay Patra project of RSP.
