Rourkela, March 30
SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has set a fresh record in single day Hot Metal Production.
The three Blast Furnaces (BF) of the plant namely BF-1, BF-4 and BF-5 produced 16167 tonnes hot metal on March 29, 2022 to achieve the feat. Notably, the previous best single day hot production of 15505 tonnes was achieved on March 27, 2021. Similarly Blast, Furnace-5 has also recorded its best ever single day hot production of 10517 tonnes on March 29, 2022, with which it reached the stupendous productivity level of 3.01. The previous single-day best of 10025 Tonnes was recorded on December 30, 2020.
Atanu Bhowmick, Director In-Charge, RSP visited the Blast Furnace-5 today to congratulate the department collective as well as their associated units. He was accompanied by A K Kundu, ED (Mines), S R Suryawanshi, ED (Works), A K Pradhan, ED (Projects), P K Satapathy, ED (P&A), C R Mohapatra, CGM- In-charge (MM & Marketing), A K Behuria, CGM In-charge (F&A), B R Babu, CGM(BF) and many other CGMs and Senior Officers of RSP.
The feat was achieved due to the integrated team effort of all the associated departments like Sinter Plant, Raw Material Handling Plant, Coke Ovens, Traffic and Raw Material, Captive Power Plant, Oxygen Plant, Production, Planning and Control Department and Research and Control Laboratory, the quality supply of raw materials and the determined efforts of the Blast Furnace collective.
The DIC commended the efforts of the collective for achieving the production targets and emphasised upon maintaining consistency. Expressing his immense pleasure over the consistent brilliant performance of the units he urged the collective to ensure steadier production in the entire chain of units. He also urged all to make every possible effort to achieve high safety standards. Mr. Bhowmick presented bouquets and sweets to the Blast Furnaces and associated departments viz. Sinter Plant, Raw Material Handling Plant, CO & CCD, Services, Captive Power Plant, Energy Management Department, Power Distribution, SMS-I, SMS-II, Calcining Plant-2, Oxygen Plant, FM&M, MRD, Instrumentation and Automation, PPC and Quality for achieving the record.
The collective led by the CGMs and HoDs of their respective departments reiterated their commitment to give their best and help the plant achieve further glory in the days to come.
