SAIL-Rourkela’s coal chemcial section sets new records

The Coal Chemical Department of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant has registered new records in both revenue generation and chemical despatch in the Financial Year 2021-22.

It achieved 101 per cent growth in revenue generation and 10 per cent growth in  dispatches of coal chemicals corresponding to Financial Year 2020-21. The department has generated revenue of worth Rs 358 crore in FY 21-22 and the total dispatches of coal chemicals in FY 21-22 was to the tune of 76636 Tons.

It may be noted that the coal chemicals in the form of crude coal tar, ammonium sulphate, crude benzol and dehydrated tar in addition to road tar are used for construction of road in the steel city. Ammonium Sulphate is used as fertilisers and the rest are feed materials for  manufacturing of pharmaceuticals,  flavours, perfumes, rubber chemicals, plastics and other useful materials.
