With the objective of meeting the aspirations of employees in terms of better accommodation in the Steel Township, a new initiative has been launched by SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant.
Under this initiative two adjacent Single bed room quarters in Sector-14 are being merged and being converted into a 2 Bed Room special quarter. These quarters will be allotted to the employees who have brought laurels to the Plant by winning prestigious awards like Shram award or Vishwakarma Rashtriya Puraskar.
The keys of the first such modified quarter was handed over by Atanu Bhowmick, Director In-Charge to Sukra Bara, of Instrumentation Department who is also a Shrama Award winner for the year 2011, in a function organised at ‘Manthan’ Conference Hall on 27th July.
Present on the occasion were A K Kundu, ED (Mines), S R Suryawanshi, ED (Works), P K Satapathy, ED (P&A), P K Sahoo, ED (Projects), Somnath Tripathy, ED (MM), B K Hota ED (M&HS), A K Behuria, CGM In-charge (F&A), A K Nayak, CGM (TA & CSR) and other Officers of Town Engineering and Town Services Department as well as representatives of different employees unions.
Speaking on the occasion the DIC urged the officers concerned to expedite the process of modification and further improvement of the quarters. He also congratulated the new occupant of the quarter and Town Engineering deaprtment.
The special quarter has a front veranda, a drawing room, two bed rooms, two toilet bathroom with tiling and modern fixtures, a spacious kitchen and a long veranda in the back.
