Chhattisgarh-based Sarda Energy and Minerals Limited (SEML) has announced the commercial mining operations at Gare Palma IV/7 coal mine located in Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh.
The company had won the Gare Palma coal block in the commercial coal mining auction in November 2020, quoting the highest ever bid offer made for any block during the entire auction. Gare Palma IV/7 was the only coal block located in Raigarh district put for auction. SEML, the flagship company of Sarda Group incorporated in 1973, made the final bid offer of 66.75 per cent revenue sharing for the coal block, for which Adani Enterprises Ltd, Jindal Steel and Power Ltd, Bharat Aluminium Company Ltd, DB Power Ltd, Hindalco Industries Ltd and Nuvoco Vistas Corporation Ltd were also in the race.
The mine has a geological reserve of 234.205 Million Tonne (MT) with peak rated capacity of 1.20 million tonne per annum.
“We are pleased to inform that after having received all required approvals, the Company has commenced operations at its Gare Palma IV/7 coal mines at Raigarh. The coal from the said mine shall be used for captive consumption as well as commercial sale,” SEML said in a regulatory filing today.
The Coal Washery is also ready for operations. The company has received consent to operate the washery from Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board. The vesting order for the mine was issued by the Central Government on 8th March 2021 and the Company has commenced production well before the time upto 7 March 2022 given for commencement of the production, the company said.
