South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) celebrated the 76th Independence Day with patriotic fervour and pomp.
Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of SECL Dr. Prem Sagar Mishra hoisted the flag at the SECL headquarters and took the salute of the security contingent led by V Dakshinamurthy, Deputy Manager (Security) Bilaspur.
Chief Vigilance Officer B P Sharma, Director Technical Operations cum Personnel M K Prasad, Director Technical (Planning/Project) S K Pal and Director (Finance) G. Srinivasan, Steering Committee member Haridhar Singh were present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Mishra said that the success of the freedom struggle underlined that the achievement of any big goal was possible with determination. He said that the young company SECL has unlimited potential and it is possible to achieve any challenging goal.
“SECL is working towards the employment of project affected people and recently, the SECL Board has approved some important changes related to land acquisition process and documents,” Dr Mishra said. It would facilitate the company to expedite land acquisition for the projects, he said, adding that in the April-June quarter, SECL has provided employment to more than 100 land displaced persons.
The SECL CMD said the first mile connectivity projects were being developed for eco-friendly and quick dispatch of coal from the company’s mega mines, under which the coal transportation and loading systems were fully mechanized. It would reduce the transportation of coal by road from big projects.
“The company’s vision is to double the production of underground mines in the coming 3 to 4 years, for this emphasis is being laid on the establishment of modern technology like Continuous Miner,” Dr Mishra said. In order to make SECL a leader in terms of environmental protection, it has been envisaged to make it a net positive company rather than net zero, he added.
