World Environment Day 2024 was celebrated with great enthusiasm at SECL HQ today in the august presence of CMD Dr Prem Sagar Mishra, Director (Finance) G Srinivasan, Director Techincal (Project/Planning) Franklin Jayakumar, Director (Personnel) Biranchi Das, HoDs, officers and employees.
In his address, CMD Dr Mishra called for united efforts to conserve and protect the environment for future generations. Highlighting this year’s theme, he said we truly are the generation which must do our bit to save nature if we want to leave a habitable planet for future generations and women will have a key role to play in this.
Functional Directors in their respective addresses also called for environmental protection and nature conservation. As part of the world environment day celebrations various competition were also held in HQ and winners of these competition were felicitated by CMD Dr Prem Sagar Mishra.
A plantation drive was held in which CMD Dr Mishra along with FDs, Shraddha Mahila Mandal President Mrs. Poonam Mishra along with mandal members, HoDs, officers and employees planted trees in the HQ premises.
Various events took place during the celebrations which included a Nukkad Natak on this year’s theme, a mesmerising solo classical dance performance by Shreenika Gill, daughter of Yashwant Singh, Manager (P) and a group song by DAV School Vasant Vihar students.
In the ceremony welcome address by given by B K Jena HoD, Environment and Forest and the event was hosted by Sheikh Zakir Hussain, Chief Manager, Environment.
