South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has crossed the 150 million tonnes (MT) of coal production.
The company spokesperson said SECL had crossed the one and a half century mark for the fourth time and was one of the two companies to join the 150 MT Club of coal production. The employees are excited to have achieved the important milestone three weeks before the end of the financial year and now SECL is eyeing the record of highest ever coal production, the spokesperson said.
The company has registered an increase of about 18 percent in coal production as compared to the same period last year. In the last five years, SECL has produced 142.52 MT in the year 2021-22, 150.61 MT in the year 2020-21, 150.55 MT in 2019-20, 157.35 MT in 2018-19 and 144.71 MT in 2017-18. Thus, SECL has crossed 150 MT of coal production for the fourth time since its inception.
Of the 150 MT of coal produced, about 130 MT have been dispatched to power plants, which is about 10 MT more compared to the same period last year. In view of the coming summer season, the company has accelerated dispatched to the power plants. The company has registered an increase of about two and a half percent in the dispatch of coal as compared to last year.
The spokesperson said SECL had delivered historic results in over-burden removal (OBR) this year and is on track to achieve the highest ever annual OBR since inception with a growth of 34 per cent over last year.
