SECL loads record rakes

South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a flagship arm of Coal India Limited (CIL), had accelerated transporting coal through the tracks and set a record in loading rail rakes.

On Friday, the largest coal producing company among all entities of the state-run miner, loaded 72 freight rakes of coal. “This was the highest single day loading of rakes in the history of SECL,” the company spokesperson said.

In the month of March, the average daily loading of freight rakes till date had been 56, which is highest compared to other months of the current financial year 2020-21. As against last year’s 35.5 rakes, the daily average loading of rakes had reached 45.6 in the current fiscal.

The company dispatched 5,83,333 tonne of coal, which is the highest dispatch on a single day in the current fiscal.

SECL, which operates 89 mines in the territory straddling between Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, had also recorded the highest ever output on Friday since it came into being. “The company produced 10,01,082 tonne of coal on Friday,” the spokesperson said, adding that the earlier high was recorded on March 27 when SECL produced 10,016,75 tonne of coal.

The production at its three mega open cast mines (OCM) combined was 8,56,162 tonne. It was the highest ever coal production by the OCMs on a single day.
