SECL marks 75th Republic Day with pomp and patriotism

The 75th Republic Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at the Vasant Vihar Ground of SECL.

The chief guest of the program, CMD Dr Prem Sagar Mishra took salute of the parade by hoisting the national flag.

On this occasion, the Chairman Managing Director inspected the main parade organized under the leadership of Parade Commander V. Dakshinamurthy and Deputy Parade Commander D.P. Diwakar, during the parade inspection, along with Chief Guest Ashok Kumar Security Chief was also present.

In the parade, two platoons of SECL Security Department were led by Vijay Kumar Gupta and Chamru Chauhan, NCC Junior Wing Boys and Girls platoons were led by Harshdeep Luthra Class 10th and Kumari Vaishnavi Tiwari Class 11th, DAV School Girls and Boys Platoon led by Kumari Oshin Meshram Class 12th and Bharat Shankar Acharya Class 12th respectively. The band platoon in the parade was led by Subedar Major Beni Prasad.

On this occasion, Chief Guest CMD Dr Prem Sagar Mishra while congratulating on Republic Day in his message said that it was a matter of pride for all Indians that they had been part of the world’s largest democracy as well as the largest republic. In the 9 months of this financial year, SECL has registered a historic performance in coal production, dispatch and OBR. From April to December 2023, the company has registered an increase of 16.51 million tonnes in coal production and 17.05 million tonnes in dispatches over the previous year, while OBR has registered a record increase of 59.43 million cubic meters over the previous year .

This year, the company has also achieved the fastest production of 100 million tonnes of offtake and 200 million cubic meters of OBR, but it face a tough challenge to achieve the annual target of this financial year 2023-24 .To achieve the annual target of 197 million tonnes of coal production and despatches, we need to sharply increase the production and dispatch rates in the remaining days of this financial year.

“I am happy that the disposal of complaints related to SECL on the CPGRAM portal of the Government of India has been expedited and the average disposal time has been recorded at 8 days in the last 4 years which is highly commendable. The company is constantly striving to ensure that the landowners get their rights at the earliest and on time. You may be aware that for the first time in Coal India, SECL has announced attractive and better packages for land owners in mega projects and I am happy that we are getting positive cooperation from the land owners. We salute their contribution in nation building and in ensuring energy security of the nation,” Dr Mishra said.

Director (Finance) G Srinivasan, Director Technical (Operations cum Project & Planning) SN Kapri, Director (Personnel) Debasis Acharyya, from SECL Steering Committee Nathulal Pandey (HMS), Haridwar Singh (AITUC), AK Pandey (CMOAI), Sanjay Singh (BMS) from Company Security Committee, Shraddha Mahila Mandal President Smt. Poonam Mishra, Vice President Smt. Raji Srinivasan, Smt. Sangeeta Kapri, Smt. Sujata Khamari, various department heads, labor union representatives, officers-employees, and school children were present. In the function, Chairman Managing Director Dr Prem Sagar Mishra along with his FDs and office bearers of Shraddha Mahila Mandal collectively released pigeons and balloons in the sky to spread the message of peace.

Earlier, in the program organized in the premises of SECL Administrative Building, in the presence of FDs, SECL Steering Committee members, various Heads of Departments, Labour Union representatives, officers-employees, CMD Dr Prem Sagar Mishra garlanded the Shaheed Smarak and Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar statue and Khanik statue at the headquarters administrative building. They hoisted the flag and took salute at the parade organized by a contingent of security guards.

In the main event held at Vasant Vihar, attractive moving tableaux on the themes of Women Empowerment, Digital Mining, Eco-friendly Mining, New India were presented by various operational areas of SECL. Various patriotic songs and dances were presented by the children of DAV Public School, Dreamland, KPS and Holy Nursery School on the occasion.

Quiz inaugurated by CMD Dr Prem Sagar Mishra under the “Sankalp Viksit Bharat Ka” campaign

Prior to the cultural program, CMD Dr Prem Sagar Mishra and Shraddha Mahila Mandal President Smt. Poonam Mishra and FDs inaugurated the “Sankalp Viksit Bharat Ka” quiz being conducted by SECL in collaboration with MyFM in various schools and colleges of Bilaspur city.

Along with this, CMD Dr Prem Sagar Mishra and Shraddha Mahila Mandal President Smt. Poonam Mishra gave aways awards for best dress, best parade, bravery during duty, best motherhood, outstanding contribution in the field of innovation and best tableaux. In the tableaux, Jamuna Kotma area – first prize, Hasdeo area – second prize, Bhatgaon area – third prize, Baikunthpur area – consolation prize , Korba area – consolation prize were awarded. The event was anchored by Shri Sheikh Zakir Hussain, Chief Manager (Environment) and Safety Inspector Shri M.P. Jangde.
