Raipur, June 7
South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), the flagship arm of the Coal India Limited (CIL), would sponsor a magazine to be circulated among the students of government schools in Bilaspur district.
The coal miner would fund for the membership of Kilol magazine, a children’s periodical published by a Raipur-based Non Government Organisation, which would be distributed in government schools for a period of next 15 years. In all, 100 schools across the two development blocks namely Bilha and Masturi would be covered. Each block will cover 50 schools.
According to the Director of Rajiv Gandhi Education Mission (SSA) under the district administration, about 11,000 children would get to read the magazine that would be beneficial for increasing knowledge and making children more intelligent by exposing them to the scientific methods of teaching. The children studying in primary and secondary schools would be eligible.
About 90 percent of the benefitted children are from the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities.
The Bilaspur-headquartered CIL’s largest coal producing company had approved the plan and would fund it through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) head. SECL has sanctioned Rs 10 lakh from CSR head for the project and the first installment of 20 per cent would be released along with the issue of work award.
