South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has signed multiple Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, committing a total CSR outlay of approximately ₹11.87 crore towards strengthening public healthcare infrastructure, early childhood development facilities and access to safe drinking water in project-affected areas of Chhattisgarh.
The MoUs were signed today at SECL HQ under the guidance of Biranchi Das, Director (HR).
Healthcare Infrastructure Strengthening
As part of its CSR interventions in the healthcare sector, SECL has approved projects aimed at improving infection control, indoor air quality and patient safety in major government hospitals through advanced semiconductor-based air sterilization technology.
• Late Bisahu Das Mahant Memorial Government Medical College & Hospital, Korba
SECL has sanctioned ₹2.81 crore for the procurement and installation of 62 Semiconductor Air Sterilizer Units. These units will be installed in critical care areas such as Surgical Operation Theatres, ICUs, MICUs, NICUs, PICUs, Labour Rooms, TB Wards, Burn Wards and other enclosed patient-care spaces, enhancing hygiene standards and workplace safety for healthcare professionals while benefiting patients from Korba and adjoining districts.
• Kumar Sahab Swargiya Shri Dilip Singh Judeo Government Super Specialty Hospital, Bilaspur
Under this project, SECL will provide CSR support of ₹3.49 crore for the installation of 77 Semiconductor Air Sterilizer Units in Operation Theatres, ICUs, MICUs, dialysis units and other enclosed treatment areas. The initiative is aimed at strengthening infection prevention, improving indoor air quality and enhancing occupational health and patient safety in the region’s premier super specialty government hospital.
Early Childhood Development and Social Infrastructure
• Development of Model Anganwadi Centres in Bilaspur District
SECL has signed an MoU with Shrushti Seva Samiti, Udaipur (Rajasthan) for the development of 200 Model Anganwadi Centres in Bilaspur district, with a total CSR cost of ₹4.72 crore. The project focuses on upgradation and modernization of existing Anganwadi Centres through improved infrastructure, sanitation facilities, furniture and child-friendly learning environments, strengthening early childhood care and education services and benefiting thousands of children and families at the grassroots level.
Safe Drinking Water for Project-Affected Communities
• Provision of Domestic Water Filters in Gevra Area
In another important community welfare initiative, SECL has entered into an MoU with CIPET, Raipur for the supply and distribution of 3,989 sets of 30-litre capacity domestic water filters, along with water treatment kits, in project-affected villages of the Gevra Area. The project, with a CSR expenditure of ₹84.73 lakh, aims to ensure access to safe and potable drinking water, contributing to improved public health and quality of life in mining-affected communities.
The agreements were executed on behalf of SECL by GM (CSR) Shri C. M. Verma, with senior officials of the CSR Department and representatives of the respective organizations present on the occasion.
