South Eastern Coalfields Limited, a flagship arm of Coal India Limited (CIL), would provide financial aid to Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) for augmenting COVID-19 tests in the region.
CIMS is a leading medical institute located in Bilaspur, catering the health care of the region besides adjoining area.
Country’s largest coal producing company, SECL, had sanctioned a sum of Rs 32.90 lakh from its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) head for procuring required equipment that would enhance RT-PCR tests. Presently, 700-800 samples are being tested daily in the molecular virology lab of CIMS.
SECL spokesperson informed that with the contribution of the company that was sought by the Dean of CIMS, a RT-PCR system comprising computer, UPS and deep freezers would be procured. The freezers would facilitate collecting more samples and preserving it safely.
With the SECL support, the RT-PCR tests at CIMS would increase two folds.
