Launch of Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2025 – Employees Take Swachhata Pledge

On the auspicious occasion of Lord Vishwakarma Jayanti and the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 75 coal mining workers were honoured on Wednesday at South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL).

The grand ceremony was organised at Ravindra Bhavan, SECL Vasant Vihar.

Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs and Member of Parliament (Bilaspur) Tokhan Sahu graced the programme as the Chief Guest. MLA (Beltara) Sushant Shukla was present as the Guest of Honour. The programme was presided over by Harish Duhan, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, SECL.

On this occasion, Director (Technical/Operations) N. Franklin Jaykumar, Director (HR) Biranchi Das, Director (Finance) D Sunil Kumar, members of the Steering Committee, Welfare Board, Safety Committee, representatives of trade unions, associations (SISTO/OBC/SC-ST), departmental heads, employees from different operational areas, and women participants were also present.

In his address, Chief Guest Tokhan Sahu appreciated SECL’s initiative of instituting the Vishwakarma Awards on this day of Vishwakarma Jayanti coinciding with the Prime Minister’s birthday. He said that these labour warriors play a crucial role in keeping the nation energised.

Guest of Honour MLA Sushant Shukla stated that the miners’ toil and dedication are unparalleled in ensuring the nation’s energy security, making them true Shramyogis (labour warriors).

Presiding over the ceremony, SECL CMD Harish Duhan remarked that honouring SECL’s true Vishwakarmas – our coal workers – makes the entire SECL family feel proud and privileged.

On arrival, all dignitaries planted saplings under SECL’s campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” (One Tree in Mother’s Name). Subsequently, 75 regular and contractual employees engaged in operations, maintenance, supervisory, and other mining-related activities in SECL’s mines were felicitated.

At the beginning of the event, the Chief Guest also administered the Swachhata Pledge to all present, marking the commencement of the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2025.

On the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti, SECL also launched the “SECL-17: Vishwakarma Seva Sankalp Abhiyan” across its headquarters and operational areas, conducting 17 welfare-oriented activities for workers. These included health camps, vigilance pledge, blood donation, financial literacy workshops, “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” plantation drive, safety awareness, digital literacy, and de-addiction programmes.
