SECL’s footprint in MP’s COVID fight

South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), an arm of state-run Coal India Limited (CIL), has doled out assistance to the Madhya Pradesh (MP) government to combat COVID-19.

The company would be setting up two oxygen plants with a capacity of 300 LPM in Kukshi-Dhar and Budhni-Sehore following its huge requirement. Besides, it would be providing financial support for installing X-ray machines in 15 districts across Madhya Pradesh.

SECL, country’s largest coal producing company, has reserves straddling across Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. Of the 89 mines that it operates, 35 are located in Madhya Pradesh while 54 are in Chhattisgarh besides a Coal Carbonization Plant namely Dankuni Coal Complex (DCC) at Dankuni in West Bengal on lease basis from CIL.

The company has come out with all possible assistance to the governments in both the states to deal with the COVID-19 crises. The Team SECL had been coordinating with the authorities in both the states to meet its requirement.

The SECL spokesperson said with the assistance from the company, X-ray machines would be installed in Chhatarpur, Raisen, Satna, Sehore and Ujjain. The 10 districts that include Alirajpur, Anuppur, Badwani, Damoh, Dhar, Khargone, Mandla, Rajgarh, Shajapur and Umariya would get the portable x-ray machines.

The work would be executed by the health department of Madhya Pradesh government. SECL is ensuring to pay 80 per cent of the project cost to the executing agency on submission of relevant documents.
