South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has recorded about 22 per cent growth in coal production last month compared to the corresponding period of financial year 2022-23.
State-run Coal India Limited (CIL), today said in a regulatory filing that SECL produced 11.1 million tonnes (MT) of coal in the month of September 2023. The volume is 21.6 per cent higher compared to 9.2 MT of coal produced by the company in September 2022.
The cumulative production of the company that has headquarters in Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur district has also increased by 22.6 per cent during the period April to September compared to last financial year. SECL reported an output of 77.8 MT in the first two quarters of the current financial year, up by 22.6 per cent compared to last fiscal’s 63.4 MT.
SECL’s offtake for the month of September and first two quarters also increased by 19 per cent and 17.3 per cent respectively compared to previous year. The company has dispatched 86.1 MT of coal during April to September period. The figure stood at 12.9 MT in the month of September.
It may be noted that the company has recorded the highest ever coal production of 167 MT in the last financial year 2022-23. It has got a target of 200 MT of coal production for the current financial year.
